A tea-guzzling, camera-wielding twenty-year-old, Emily DING is well on her way to local fame: she is expecting to be sued for overt paparazzi activities. (Watch this space.) However, she also leads another more sober life studying Law in London. She is indeed very much interested in the field of Law, and is not simply studying for job security. Obviously, she is far too optimistic.

Co-Editor
Krystin LOW possesses an appropriately jaundiced view of what little she knows of the world. A walking contradiction, she is an aspiring writer and a rampant pessimist, rambunctious and an introspective brooder. Excessive blogging is Krystin’s current addiction as she grapples with accepting that the answers don’t always come in the same envelope as the questions.

Contributing Editor

Daniel REGAN is a photography student living in Brighton, England, with a keen eye for creating images as a means of processing and documenting human emotion. He started creating images as an alternative means to keeping a textual diary, in order to articulate and document the range of emotions that he experiences on a day-to-day basis. Daniel is a strong believer in art remaining as a personal platform for artists. A great deal of his work involves self-portraiture in some way or heavy emphasis on the human body and dark aesthetics. Daniel finds beauty in every day objects, the human form, the sheer uniquity of human design and the art in simply breathing. Visit him at a.funnytimeofyear.com

Maria is a Norwegian high school student wishing for nothing but ten extra hours in the day. As she is a stressed-out procrastinating perfectionist unable to work efficiently toward her IB diploma, she should be limiting her activities to school work only. Consequently, the people surrounding her tend to find her obsession with photography strange as she just can’t help starting to snap photos whenever she encounters a fascinating image. Maria’s current aim in life is to graduate from high school in one piece. Only then will she dare to look ahead at the future and philosophize on the meaning of life and art. Charlie O'SHIELDS is a 33-year-old Aries who was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and somehow managed to never leave it. He currently works as a Creative Director at an interactive design company, and if you don't know what that means exactly, don't worry, his mother doesn't either. He has a BA in Studio Art, and I have held several full-time, part-time and one-time jobs including, but not limited to, siding installer, real estate agent, singer, clown, playwright, copywriter, violinist, tap and jazz instructor, professional actor, industrial designer, art director, and marketing consultant.

He's been photographing things for years, but has only recently started taking photos regularly. He takes pictures of pretty much anything that catches his eye and captures his imagination. His site, Always Curious, is an odd collection of these photos that he blatantly shares publicly for anyone out there who might also be curious.

Shane LAVALETTE is an aspiring young photographer out of Vermont, USA. Shane’s appreciation for the world is clearly contagious and has been with him since childhood.

Even before Shane had a passion for the art, or rather, had a title for his passion, he found himself playing with a Ninja Turtle camera. Complete with green plastic casing and 'turtle power', the camera was adopted as a four year old’s instrument of interpretation. Shane’s mode of photography has since advanced, but still he manages to make magic with the tools at hand. A lot of his vision exists as digital photography that is edited with a knowledge of imaging programs, but Shane always comes back to film, the simplicity of Polaroids, and the beauty of the Holga negative.

Shane’s photography has received public recognition and acclaim. His ability to turn everyday life into magic won’t ever cease to impress. On the journey through his site, you’ll discover that in flying, birds dance. In walking, men cry. In playing, two hands form one smile. In moments that whisper, a red shoe can scream. Buildings talk and eyes stare cold as stone.

Going through Shane’s photographs is a bit like turning to through the pages of a Dr. Seuss book while listening to the music of Xiu Xiu. Everything is brilliantly surreal, light and heavy. Whimsical at times, romantic, twisted, fun, silly, sad, and just plain lovely. Some try to capture these genuine emotions through words, paintings, film, and theater. At seventeen, Shane needs only his camera.

David NIGHTINGALE lives in the North of England with his wonderful wife, sometimes model, and his marvellous "oh not another picture, please" children. Heˆll soon be moving from the hills of Yorkshire to the candyfloss and glitz of Blackpool, and is looking forward to being back by the sea after being away for far too long. Heˆs been totally obsessed with his photolog for the last six months or so, and really should do other things as well, like concentrate on his job as a lecturer in higher education. When he grows up he wants to be a photographer.
