In the foreground a film student attends an the
opening of David Burnett's Measures of Time show at the Huret
& Spector Gallery in Boston, MA. In the background, Burnett's
photograph of the 50th anniversary commemoration of D-Day with
a sky saturated with white fluffy clouds and airborne troops.
Burnett's photograph was taking in Normandy, France in June
of 1994. Mine in the Spring of 2004. This photograph splices
time and memory. An event which happened 50 years prior to the
capturing of Burnett's image is spliced with the memories and
lives of people 60 years later in a completely different setting.
